About Lerner Communications
Michelle Lerner founded Lerner Communications to help organizations find their voice, reach their audiences, and impact their communities for the better. She has more than a decade of communications and advocacy experience in the education sector, most recently at DC Public Schools, where she served as Press Secretary and later led the communications work for the fastest improving urban school district in the nation. Michelle also has led communications for the Thomas B. Fordham Institute and the American Federation for Children.
In the community
Michelle serves as board chair for Inspired Teaching Demonstration Public Charter School and is on the community advisory board for the Education Writers Association. She graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s in journalism and from George Mason University with a master’s in public policy. Michelle lives in Washington, DC, with her husband, two sons, and two highly energetic cats.
